2013 Maison Emilie Geantet Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru "Combe Aux Moines", Burgundy, France, 750ml
Regular price $730.00
- 100% Pinot Noir from average 38 year old vines in a 1er Cru situated at the north of Combe de Lavaux, next to Cazetiers. South facing on chalky clay soil. Fourrier is another excellent example of this cru.
- Emilie Geantet, daughter of Vincent (head of the Geantet-Pansiot family of Burgundian vignerons) established her own winery in 2005. Taking advantage of the skills and philosophy she learned under her father's tutelage, Emilie's high level and boutique winery also benefits from an enviably close relationship with her grape supplier - 3.5ha of vineyards owned by a single contracted grower in Brochon, Gevrey proper and Fixin.
- Heavily inspired by traditional techniques, remontage and pigeage are carried out twice a day. 30% of the wine is aged for 12-13 months in new barrels and the rest in 1 or 2 year old barrels. It is lightly filtered with no lees extraction, and then bottled.
