Domaine de la Mordorée

"Under the leadership of young (20-something) Ambre Delorme, this historic Tavel estate continues to turn out a wide range of exemplary wines"
Joe Czerwinski for The Wine Advocate/Robertparker.com

Founded in 1987 by Francis and Christophe Delorme in Tavel, the domain brings together 57ha of vineyard divided into 38 plots over 8 communes across the Rhône and Languedoc-Roussillon. Over 30 years, Christophe's unflinching commitment to a biodynamic approach in the vineyards and cellar has propelled this domain to deservedly high status in the region. His wife Madeleine and daughter Ambre admirably continue his mission to both protect and express the unique characteristics of their exquisite vineyards.

Organic viticulture, hand-harvesting AND debudding/green-harvesting/thinning are practiced in all plots and make the team at this domain "vine-growers" in the truest sense. Equal care is applied in the vinification process, with only local yeasts used, and the philosophy that good concentration of flavours and structure is necessary to express vineyard character is employed. Making the wines hard to resist on release but also with serious underlying ageing potential.
