The history of this domain began when Jules Lafon moved to Meursault in the late 19th century. He quickly became a prominent public figure and it was not until 1930 that he was able to fully devote himself to his vineyard. Now under Dominique Lafon, who spent a decade ensuring that by 1997 the domain was able to bottle all of its production from its 14ha in the Côte de Beaune.

For years the domain was known to produce "some of the greatest dry whites of Burgundy" (Jasper Morris MW) and in 1999 a domain in Milly-Lamartine was purchased, marking their first foray into Mâcon, and renaming it renaming it Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon. A range of climats are now released showing the class and prestige of this illustrious name at very affordable prices.
