Madonna Nera

A young winery which takes its name from the ancient local term for the rolling hillside slopes of the Tuscan countryside, and has since 2006 released from its 7 hectares of vineyards its tiny production red wines to startling critical acclaim. Carlo Ferrini of Casanova di Neri is the consulting winemaker, and every aspect of the winemaking from vineyard to cellar is a dutiful homage to Tuscan heritage, most beautifully symbolised by the planting of a rose bush at the head of every row of vines.
A small property owned by Lorenzo Borgogni and his wife. This is a small, seven-hectare estate that produces 12,000 bottles of Brunello di Montalcino per year, and has vineyards located a short, but steep walk from Montalcino's main square.
